Engineering group Amec Foster Wheeler has landed a £75 million contract for work on the Royal Navy's submarine flotilla.

The Ministry of Defence deal, which extends over five years, will see the firm supply independent nuclear propulsion safety and technical advice. It was awarded following a competitive tender.

The work will be delivered by a specialist team at Amec Foster Wheeler, which employs about 40,000 people in more than 55 countries and generated some £5.5 billion in revenues last year.
