Asparagus tips in early this year
A MAJOR supermarket has claimed victory in the race to deliver British asparagus into stores first. Sainsbury's said the 14 March launch date will be the earliest ever.
New growing techniques and improved varieties of the vegetable have brought forward its season, according to the chain.
The asparagus season traditionally runs from 24 April to 21 June, according to the growers' association
