Cooney heads Capital in Scotland

SCOTTISH broadcasting veteran Paul Cooney has been named managing director of Capital Radio Scotland, the newly-rebranded Galaxy station owned by Global Radio.

The former Radio Clyde MD takes the helm after several months working as a consultant on the launch. The Scottish arm of Global's Capital FM Network began broadcasting in the Glasgow and Edinburgh regions on 3 January. Cooney, 54, will lead a Scottish team that includes commercial director Pam Richardson and programme controller Stuart Barrie.
