BORDER Biscuits will tonight unveil its first national television advertising campaign after signing up actress Jane Horrocks to promote its snacks.

The Lanark-based company ran a small-scale campaign on STV in 2010 but will use tonight’s episode of Coronation Street to launch its latest advertisements, which will run across Channel 4, Channel 5 and Daybreak on ITV, along with STV.

David Reid, marketing director at Border Biscuits, said: “It’s a light-hearted look at the one-dimensional world of boring biscuits, highlighting what might happen if everyone picked a brilliant biscuit, not a boring one.”

The company’s adverts were written by advertising firm The Leith Agency and produced by Dundee-based Ink Films, which won an Oscar for its animated film The Illusionist.

Last month, family-owned dairy Graham’s also launched its first TV promotions.
