Bereaved violin star’s charity cuppa

WORLD-RENOWNED violinist Nicola Benedetti is backing a nationwide fundraising event, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, after losing her grandmother to cancer.

The charity Macmillan Cancer Support hopes thousands of people will hold coffee mornings to help them raise a record-breaking £8.5 million next month. The 24-year-old, from West Kilbride, wants people across the country to help celebrate the 21st birthday of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Scots-Italian Nicola said: “My gran Giovannina died of cancer as have other close family members, so I really appreciate the work of Macmillan Cancer Support. Enjoying coffee and cake seems a very easy way to raise money for an absolutely necessary and important cause, so I hope the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is a huge success.”
