Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the flames, which severely damaged the top floor, using three hose reels.

Four appliances and a fire investigation vehicle attended the blaze, which was brought under control by 7.20pm.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said the damage to the building is believed to be severe but that no-one had been injured.

She added that investigations are ongoing but that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
