Call to parties on smoking

A FRESH action plan is needed to stop young people in the Lothians taking up smoking, an action group has said.

The Scottish Coalition on Tobacco has called on all main political parties to include ideas in their manifestos for next year's Holyrood elections. Chairwoman Sheila Duffy, who is also Edinburgh-based ASH Scotland's chief executive, said: "There is now a clear need for a new comprehensive tobacco control strategy for Scotland."
