Capital's BBC staff walk out over pensions

BBC staff at the corporation's Edinburgh office in Holyrood Road were among those taking part in a strike which was expected to disrupt radio and TV news programmes over the weekend.

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) said the strike had been "solidly supported" by thousands of journalists in a bitter row over pensions.

Jeremy Dear, general secretary of the NUJ, said: "It is a clear indication that BBC journalists will stand up for a fair pension deal."
