Fat pets weigh in for slimming contest
They join the line-up of 18 of the UK’s biggest pets in Pet Slim Club – run by the PDSA.
Casper the cat was put forward by his owner Christine Collins, 54, from Edinburgh, after he could no longer squeeze under the fence or get on the sofa due to weighing in at a hefty 8.6kg – making him 91 per cent overweight.

Hide AdCommenting on Casper’s weight problem, Christine said: “He is such a lovely, affectionate cat, but he is also very lazy – if you try to get him to chase a toy, he just lies down. He doesn’t get lots of treats or titbits.”
The other Scottish candidates include Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Otis, Baily, a Border Collie from Glasgow and Billy, a Cocker Spaniel, also from Glasgow.
