Gas warning after tragic death of OAP

SCOTTISH Gas is advising householders to be alert to the danger posed by carbon monoxide following the death of a city pensioner from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

Pauline Childs, 61, died at her home in North Street, Ratho on Thursday from what is believed to have been carbon monoxide poisoning.

Scottish Gas engineer David Robertson urged residents to get any gas or solid fuel appliance serviced every year and fit a carbon monoxide detector with an alarm. He added: "If you suspect you have a carbon monoxide leak or smell gas, shut down all gas appliances and open all windows and call the gas emergency service on 0800 111999."
