Guidelines to simplify planning process

NEW guidelines have been drawn up for city planners and neighbourhood partnerships.

A new protocol has been published that attempts to simplify and clarify some of the guidance given, and simplify the pre-application stage.

The changes to the document follow consultation with neighbourhood partnership information managers and development officers.

Dave Anderson, director of the city council's city development department, said: "The review takes account of experience over the last three years and the details of changes following the 2006 Planning Act. The protocol revisions are intended to clarify roles and understanding of the process for community participants."
