Lib Dems toast wage crackdown

The Scottish Liberal Democrats have called for a crackdown on high public sector wages as part of their plan for government.

Leader Tavish Scott set out key areas for change in jobs, pay and education in a "pre-manifesto" launch yesterday on the eve of the party's autumn conference.

He was with UK Business Secretary Vince Cable at the Scottish Whisky Centre on the Royal Mile.

Other plans would give MSPs the power to veto large salaries in the public sector, including top-earners in the NHS.
