Man charged over alleged robberies

A MAN has been arrested and charged over an alleged series of attempted robberies.

At around 6pm on 25 February, two women, aged 31 and 40, were threatened at knifepoint in separate incidents in East Adam Street and Forrest Road, Edinburgh. In the latter incident, the woman was robbed after she had just withdrawn money from a cash machine.

Three days later, a 32-year-old woman reported being assaulted and robbed at knifepoint after withdrawing cash from the same machine on Forrest Road. Also, on 3 March in Niddrie Mains Road, a 56-year-old woman reported an attempt to rob her.

A 34-year-old man has since been arrested as part of Operation Arable, an initiative meant to tackle street robberies in the capital. He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.
