Man in hospital after attack on city street

A 37-year-old man is in hospital with arm injuries after a serious assault in Niddrie last night.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after an incident on Caikemuir Gardens just after 7pm.

The street was cordoned off last night while forensic officers examined a van, before it was removed from the scene by a recovery vehicle.

A police spokeswoman said: “The incident occurred yesterday at around 7.15pm when a 37-year-old man sustained injuries to his left arm. He was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment where he is detained in a stable condition.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
