Oil transfer review fears

FEARS of an environmental "disaster" in the Firth of Forth have grown after the UK government announced a review of planned controls on ship-to-ship oil transfers.

New restrictions set to come into force in April have been thrown into doubt after the government announced a review of the regulations.

Edinburgh North and Leith Labour MP Mark Lazarowicz said the review was a result of the shipping industry lobbying Tory and Lib Dem MPs, adding: "As oil continues to pour into the Gulf of Mexico, it's amazing the new government is deferring regulation here."
