GORDON BROWN and Anas Sarwar have both ruled themselves out of the Scottish Labour leader race.

Brown, the former UK prime minister, was urged to intervene and save the party from “civil war” after Johann Lamont resigned.

The previous leader had cited interference from London as a reason for her quitting.
