Competing estimates of the costs and savings of Scottish independence were set out yesterday as the Scottish and UK governments outlined their visions.

The UK Treasury spoke of the “Union dividend”, suggesting every person in Scotland would be £1,400 better off each year by staying in the Union.

The Scottish Government spoke of an ‘independence bonus’ that would make each person £1,000 wealthier.
