One hundred years ago, Britain entered the largest conflict the world had yet known, a war in which millions lost their lives and harsh lessons were learned.

Yesterday, the beginning of World War One, was marked by a service of commemoration at Glasgow Cathedral and a wreath laying service at the cenotaph in George Square.
