Ruth Davidson pledged that the Scottish Conservatives would restore the prescription charge to pay for 1,000 extra nurses and midwives.

The Scottish Conservative leader said future prosperity will be built on a strong and growing working class and singled out the efforts of “everyday grafters” in a party conference speech.

It was part of a closing speech at the party’s conference in Edinburgh intending to show Conservative values are held by a “majority” in Scotland.
