Big decision

It is incredibly brave of the NHS to announce that obese people, and those who smoke or drink heavily, will be denied access to IVF treatment (your report, 16 May).

I know some GPs and nurses who dread having to tell
patients that they are obese, but I find it puzzling that anyone would have to be told.

Surely you just step on a scale or look in a mirror. This move seems like a step in the right direction in the journey towards encouraging people to take responsibility for their own health.
