Holy ridiculous

With reference to the comment "Scotland should take pride in Pope's visit" (Opinion, 17 March) I am sure that the Catholic community will enjoy their day and I wish them well.

That aside, in no way will I personally take pride in this Papal visit to Scotland and certainly not during the year of the 450th anniversary of the Reformation. Great men of that time led us away from that mediaeval church with its corruption and superstition. We in Scotland led the world to a more democratic church.
