Hustings debate

Not being one who gobbles up TV commercials and to whom party political broadcasts are nearly anathema, I nonetheless snatch a keek at pre-election debates, including US ones.

To sideline the SNP from the forthcoming general election debates is all right by me for viewers elsewhere in the UK, but to sideline the ruling party in Scotland from these televised debates for Scotland viewers is just another way of being told that we don't really count among the big boys. Those who accept this kind of scornful treatment are the same members of the electorate who are happy to see their MPs whizz off out of their sight to London where their tallies of expenses could instead be used to keep open various useful services in their constituency areas.

How dare the BBC dictate to the British people which parties will be allowed to preach their policies. I do not believe the debate should take place at all as it has been reported it will be stage-managed.

The public would be better served if there were no political programmes on television, with a return to the hustings, where the public can have their say.
