Letter: Quiz trivialised autistic disorders

I GENERALLY read the Blabbermouth “quiz” in Spectrum as a light item of Sunday entertainment, as it can sometimes be funny, despite its predictability. I was, however, disappointed in the content of last week’s effort (13 November), which contained in its final answer an obvious reference to disorders on the autistic spectrum.

I would not have expected journalists on Scotland on Sunday to be so uninformed as to trivialise serious and disabling psychological conditions for the supposed amusement of its readers.

Can I suggest that you refer the person responsible to the National Autistic Society Scotland and Scottish Society for Autism websites, both of which will rapidly dispel the notion that autism is a laughing matter?
