Letter: Serious energy

We are told by George Leslie that nuclear power is the ''most expensive'' form of energy provision (Letters, 31 December).

Leaving aside that very spurious assertion, perhaps Mr Leslie is aware that only nuclear-generated electricity kept the lights on - and his business going - during the recent coldest spell in decades.

So, presumably we can all sit and freeze to death and the country grind to a halt happy in the knowledge that we have more (mostly stationary) windmills blighting our countryside than anywhere else in Europe.
