The new headquarters of the Scottish Film Council were opened yesterday by Lord Bilsland, chairman of the Scottish Council (Development and Industry). The premises are situated in Woodside Terrace, Glasgow, only a short distance away from their former headquarters. Lord Bilsland, in opening the building, said this was the opening of a new era of activity for the Film Council. They were now in a building in keeping with the amount of work they were doing and the reputation they had gained for doing that work. "Nineteen-fifty has been a notable year for the Scottish Film Council," he said. "The Film Council was formed 16 years ago with only a part-time staff. It has steadily grown, and this year has been reconstituted on a broader basis as a direct result of its outstanding success in pursuit of its purpose, which is the encouragement of the use of films as an educational, instructional, and cultural medium."
