Tender irony

In a short report (11 September) The Scotsman tells us that the Welsh Assembly is about to ban firms guilty of blacklisting from bidding for public sector contracts.

In order to do this the assembly will, of course, have to create a record of banned blacklisters –in other words, a blacklist.

But if the Welsh Assembly creates its own blacklist, surely its own stand-alone companies and quangos will automatically also be banned from, in effect, bidding against outside private interests to do their own work? The creeping hand of global capitalism?

No, just one of life’s little
ironies.
