Radio station bid support

A LOCAL radio station campaigning for a full license is set to receive the support of the local council.

East Lothian community radio station East Coast FM has received thousands of messages of support and more than a million internet hits since it started broadcasting last year, and is now campaigning to get a full five-year license from industry regulator OFCOM.

Listeners have been encouraged to sign appeal sheets - and now a local councillor has put forward a motion calling for politicians to give official backing to the venture.

Cllr Paul McLennan has called on the council to recognise the "positive and valuable contribution made to community life in East Lothian" by the station, and to write a formal letter of support to help in their OFCOM bid.
