Restoration grant awarded

The first grant has been awarded as part of a scheme to regenerate historic buildings in Dalkeith.

The Dalkeith Townscape Heritage Initiative and Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme has awarded funds to Queensberry Properties for the repair and restoration of 1-3 Musselburgh Road, a listed building near the entrance to Dalkeith Country Park.

Dating back to the 18th century, the cottage is regarded as a priority project.

The grant will enable the cottage to be restored, repairing and rebuilding the stone walls with new sash and case timber windows, and adding new stone surroundings to the window openings to match the original.

Queensberry Properties aims to redevelop the cottage into nine new properties.
