Romania: Alcohol killed birds, not avian flu
Authorities in Romania say dozens of starlings died of alcohol poisoning, not avian flu as feared.
Government official Romeu Lazar said a post-mortem study revealed the birds had eaten grape residue that fermented, and their bodies could not handle the alcohol.
