Scots back local press ads

Nearly three-quarters of people in Scotland say they have more trust in national government advertising if it appears in the local press, according to a survey commissioned by the Newspaper Society.

The UK-wide survey saw 71 per cent of Scots back local media advertising, compared with the UK average of 65 per cent.

The figures were unveiled in Edinburgh yesterday. Newspaper Society marketing director Robert Ray said: "Local media is the best place for national government advertising because people actively seek out the advertising in local media."
