Students' new help initiative

Students in Edinburgh are launching a new volunteering service.

Edinburgh University Students' Association is aiming to create a pool of volunteers that can assist with local community events and short-term volunteering projects.

Based in the new Volunteering and Societies centre in Potterrow, EUSA Volunteering aims to be a one-stop shop for student volunteering. A soon-to-be-launched interactive online facility will make it easy for charitable organisations to register volunteering opportunities.

The new volunteer development manager, Hilary Wardle, added: "So many students are keen to give something back to the city they live in and the EUSA Volunteering service aims to make it easier for local and national charities to tap into this pool."
