Teen threw kettle in fight

A MUM-TO-BE threw a kettle of scalding water over a man causing him third degree burns, a court has heard.

Charlene Hunter, 17, tossed the hot water at George Muir after she found him fighting with Paul Gracey, 22. Mr Muir, 47, had accused the dad-of-two of stealing from his home in Bingham Way.

Mr Muir spent four weeks in hospital following the scalding in April 2008.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday Hunter admitted throwing a kettle and its contents at Mr Muir to his severe injury. Gracey also admitted causing a breach of the peace by fighting with Mr Muir.

Sheriff William Holligan fined Gracey, of Duddingston Row, 180. He deferred sentence on Hunter, of Moredun Park Road.
