The dog's owner - a 51-year-old woman - has since been charged with failing to keep her dog under proper control.

She has surrendered her ownership of the puppy.

A Fife Constabulary spokesman said: "The dog has been removed from the house. Matters with respect of the future of the dog are still ongoing."
