Tests confirm body found on Scots beach is missing artist

THE body of a foreign artist who disappeared on a visit to Scotland has been found on a beach.

Tests have confirmed that the body found near Campbeltown, Argyll, on 31 January, was Niloofar Polvandeh.

Ms Polvandeh, 51, from Cologne, Germany, had been staying at the Stonefield Castle Hotel in Tarbert, Argyll, and was reported missing on 8 January, the day after her birthday.

She was last seen in the Southend area of the Mull of Kintyre on 11 January.

Strathclyde Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report had been sent to the procurator-fiscal.

Ms Polvandeh, who also worked under the name Anny Ra Sason, was born in Iran and specialised in Egyptian sculptures. The mother of two had visited Scotland and Ireland for previous birthdays.
