A YOUNG woman has died after struck by a car on the Isle of Skye.

The 21-year-old woman was hit on the A87 near Sligachan Hotel, Sconsar, at about 1.15am this morning.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 21-year-old woman pedestrian sustained fatal injuries following a collision with a Vauxhall car. The male driver of the car was uninjured.”

The road is currently closed as investigations are carried out. There are no diversions possible on the main road, which will impact on people travelling to Raasay on the ferry at Sconsar.

Meanwhile, a man is in a serious condition in hospital in Aberdeen after being struck by a car.

The pedestrian was hit in Station Road, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, at around 8pm on Sunday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A male pedestrian was hit by a car. He was in a serious condition and has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
