Pet Shop Boys leave Parlophone after 28 years

Chart veterans Pet Shop Boys have left their record company Parlophone after nearly three decades, to sign with a newly-established label.

The departure comes just a month after it was announced Parlophone was being sold to Warner Music, following many years of being part of EMI.

Pet Shop Boys – whose hits have included West End Girls and It’s A Sin, and have sold more than 50 million records – will release a new album called Electric in June.

It will come out through Kobalt Music Services, a new wing of the Kobalt Music Group which has become a growing force in music publishing over the past decade. The new arm of the company issued its first international album last month with Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Push The Sky Away.

Pet Shop Boys released their first single on Parlophone 28 years ago.
