The Clash, Bee Gees pick up Silver Clef awards
One Direction saw off competition from Glastonbury headliners the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay to be be named the best live act at the Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef Awards, run by O2.
“We are over the moon. Congratulations to Nordoff Robbins on another amazing Silver Clef Awards. What an incredible charity”, said band member Harry Styles, as he thanked fans.

Other winners included veteran punk rockers The Clash, who picked up the O2 Silver Clef Award, former Bee Gee Barry Gibb, who collected a lifetime achievement award, and Ray Davies, who led the band the Kinks with his brother, who won the Ambassador of Rock award. Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi from Status Quo, were also among those attending the ceremony at the Hilton in Park Lane. Chart star Labrinth was recognised for his innovation in music and Alison Moyet picked up an icon award.
