Woman, 93, suffers serious head injury in taxi incident

A 93-YEAR-OLD woman who was a passenger in a taxi suffered a serious head injury after the driver braked suddenly.

The pensioner was travelling in a black Mercedes Vito on Queensferry Road, near to Clermiston Road North, at around 5.30pm on Thursday when the driver hit the brakes.

As a result, the woman fell from her seat and suffered an injury to her head.

The taxi then stopped at a nearby bus stop.

She was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she remains in a serious condition. A police spokesman said: "We want to speak to any motorists or pedestrians who were in the area of Queensferry Road, close to Clermiston Road North, who may have witnessed the incident.

"Anyone else who has any information that can assist our inquiries should also get in touch."
