Woman dies after clifftop fall

A woman has died after falling from a cliff in Ross-shire.

The 47-year-old was out walking with her partner when she plunged 30-feet from a clifftop at Tarbat Ness Lighthouse, in Portmahomack, yesterday evening.

The woman was airlifted to hospital buy died in the early hours of this morning.

Northern Constabulary said the woman had suffered a serious head injury during the fall.

A spokesman for the force said: "The death does not appear to be suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.

"The woman's identity is not being issued until all next of kin have been informed."
