It’s a horrible situation when your family pet goes missing, but research has found that there are some places in the UK where it’s more likely to occur than others.

In the last two years, the online document printing company Doxdirect has seen a 132 per cent increase in requests for missing pet posters on their website, and decided to analyse their internal data.

What should I do if my pet goes missing?

If microchipped, you should call the microchip company that your pet is registered to and report them as missing. This will then notify anyone who finds your pet and takes them to a vet to be scanned.

Note: It’s important to make sure that your contact details are up to date.

Your pet may have wandered into local sheds or garages, so you should ask your neighbours to look out for them. You should also consider getting posters printed with a photo of your pet, alongside their name, approximate size and your contact details.
