During the first set of his ATP World Tour Finals match with Rafael Nadal, there was something troubling Andy Murray.

It wasn’t his second serve or his opponent’s return. No, it was a stray strand of hair interrupting the Scotsman’s concentration.

Those of us with longer locks know the struggle, but while most would distractedly play on, Murray decided to do something about it.

In a break between games, Murray took a pair of scissors and ruthlessly discarded the stray tuft, cutting it off without a second thought.

It’s the kind of dedication and personal sacrifice required if you want to be No.2 in the world, though Murray has yet to comment on whether a visit to the stylist shall be required.

Tennis stars use scissors to cut any loose grip on the racket or if they need to re-grip, which explains why they were on-hand for the Scottish star.
