Athletics: GB excel at Youth Games

Chef de Mission Jan Paterson believes Britain's Olympic future is in safe hands after Team GB picked up nine medals at the inaugural Youth Games in Singapore.

Britain claimed three golds, a silver and five bronze medals as well as a further four medals in mixed team events, collecting two golds, a silver and a bronze. While London 2012 will come too soon for the vast majority of the team, four years later in Rio is a more realistic proposition.

Paterson said: "In achieving 25 further top-ten places, on top of the 13 medals won, our athletes have shown there is a depth of talent ready to be nurtured along the journey towards future Olympic Games."
