Boxing: Skey does his country proud despite Scotland's loss to Auld Enemy
Skey said: "Saunders is part of the famous Saunders boxing clan and I was giving away height and reach advantages to him. In the first two rounds, the fact that I found this awkward was shown in the narrow 2-1 points margin that I led by going into the third. But my coach Terry McCormack told me to take away Saunders' long left jab by attacking his body with stiff right hands and left hooks in the third round and it worked." McCormack added: "So successful were Skey's big right-hand digs to the body that Saunders was actually given a public warning by the referee for persistent ducking below Skey's waistline in a bid to avoid his ribs being continually clattered."
