Caithness celebrate their finest moment

Ryan Dunnet put Irvine ahead with a penalty, but a Graeme Ross try, converted by Michael Henderson, put the Division 5 (North) side in front. Henderson added a penalty, but back came Irvine and Neil Van de Walt got a late try, though Dunnet was unable to convert.

Another major shock came at Dunbar, where Royal High of National League 3 were eliminated when a late Jamie Peters penalty sealed a 20-17 victory.

Ardrossan Accies, of National League 2, edged Annan, from one division above, 17-10 in a tense contest at Memorial Field. A Tony Finnegan try and the conversion and a penalty by Alan Wilson gave the home side a 10-7 interval advantage, but Annan’s pack got on top and a Niall Smith penalty squared it. Ardrossan defended well, and in a breakout Ted O’Rourke snatched a try, with Wilson again adding the extra points.

A lacklustre Greenock side, currently third in National League 2, crashed 31-13 at the hands of Linlithgow.

Allan Glen’s dumped Garnock 32-8, with Stuart Price and Max Spitoni and Andy Hughes (2) getting the tries.

GHK travelled to Madras and returned with the scalp of the National League 3 side. Lance Bullen and Mike Adamson scored the GHK tries, with veteran fly-half John McLeod converting one and kicking two penalties to make it 18-7.

A ding-dong contest at Lasswade saw Lenzie sneak through 27-24, thanks to a couple of late kicks from Donald Brodie. He dropped a goal to tie it 24-24 and in stoppage time banged over the winning penalty.

Elsewhere, Cambuslang ran in ten tries as they thumped Glenrothes 56-0, while Hawick Harlequins made the long trip to Orkney only to slump to a 37-0 defeat.

Hawick Linden also crashed out - 10-9 losers to Forrester.
