Craig Meikle confident Penicuik can stay up

JOINT MANAGER Craig Meikle is confident Penicuik can stay in the Premier Division after winning a do-or-die encounter against Montrose last weekend.

"While no-one wanted to say it, if we had lost last Saturday I think we'd have been guaranteed to go down," said Meikle.

"The fact we won (2-1], however, has had the complete opposite effect and we are confident now we can get ourselves out of the mess we've found ourselves in this season."

According to Meikle, Ross Harvey, a loan signing from Dumbarton, has made a big difference in defence, while young striker Craig Miller also made his presence felt against Montrose. "Ross, who was on Rangers' books at one time, has been a great addition and we're not losing some of the silly goals we were earlier in the season," said Meikle.

"We also had his brother, Johnny, back from injury last weekend and he had a hand in both goals, one of which was scored by young Craig Miller, who shows good movement up front.

"Other players have picked up, too, and our fitness levels are now better as well."

Unfortunately, a snowbound pitch is set to claim Penicuik's game against Steelend Vics in the Fife & Lothians Cup.
