The appointment gives a further McClaren a further chance to improve his managerial reputation which was damaged following a poor spell as England manager.

Under McClaren, England failed to qualify for the Euro 2008 finals.

At Wolfsburg he will have the chance to work with the likes of Grafite and Edin Dzeko, whose goals took the Wolves to the 2009 title.
