FORMER Hearts left-back Adam Eckersley has stated that he will not be joining Edinburgh rivals Hibs.

Rumours of the move began after Eckersley’s former Hearts teammate James Keatings made the switch across Edinburgh.

There was even a report in a national paper today stating Hibs were one of a few Scottish clubs to have offered Eckersley a deal.

However, the player has since responded to a question on social media asking about the potential move by stating: “Wish Hibs well! But no I’m not going there”.

Eckersley signed for Hearts in August last year to provide depth at the left-back position. He would go on to play 27 times for the Gorgie Road club after first-choice left-back Kevin McHattie saw most of his season wiped out through injury.

Eckersley built up a good rapport with the fans who appreciated his energy and work rate.

He was told his one-year deal wouldn’t be getting renewed shortly after the club wrapped up the Scottish Championship title.
