Scottish Second Division roundup: Leaders left singing the blues as late penalty makes it a Doris day at Arbroath

A roundup of yesterday’s action in the Scottish Second Division

Arbroath 1 - 0 Stenhousemuir

Stewart Kean failed to make the most of two chances for ’Muir in the first half, and in the second Steven Doris and Gavin Swankie went close for Arbroath. Doris won it with a penalty in 84 minutes after keeper Chris McCluskey was sent off.

Brechin City 1 - 0 Cowdenbeath

Both sides had opportunities in a barren first half but it was Cowdenbeath who finished the stronger, Jon Robertson having a “goal” disallowed. Charlie King scored eight minutes after the break with a left-foot shot to dump the leaders.

Mark Ridgers saved an 18th-minute penalty and East Fife took full advantage with a goal from Ryan Wallace. Ryan Donnelly equalised but Airdrie’s Paul Lovering was sent off as Craig Johnstone and Bobby Linn both scored late.

Stirling Albion 0 - 1 Dumbarton

Stirling keeper Sam Filler did well to block a Pat Walker shot and then, seven minutes from the break, save from Mark Gilhaney. But, with six minutes left, Scott Agnew struck to give Dumbarton their fourth league win of the season.

Forfar Athletic 0 - 2 Albion Rovers

John Gemmell came close early on for Albion and Ross Campbell cracked a volley just wide at the other end. Robert Love put Albion ahead on the stroke of half-time with a left-foot shot, and added a second in 58 minutes with his right foot.
