Golf: Kerr set for pass marks

Lothians golfer Mark Kerr was on course to progress past stage one of the European Tour's qualifying school at Dundonald Links.

The Dalmahoy golfer had posted a four-over 76 in the third round of the weather-delayed event and was sitting in a share of tenth spot on a 227 with the top 22 progressing to stage two. Kerr had began his fourth round late yesterday afternoon but was facing a struggle to complete his final 18 holesbefore darkness.

Craigielaw's Shaun McAllister was sitting one shot outside the qualifying mark heading into his closing round on 231 after a 78. Comrie's Wallace Booth was sharing the lead on 218 but was set to return this morning to put the finishing touches to his campaign.
