renewals of the Mile.

Sky Lantern has been being prepared for her American jaunt since winning the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh in September and Hannon junior, assistant to his father, said: “Sky Lantern has a real chance of getting competitive from her inside draw, because even if she does not break as quickly as the local runners she still has the opportunity to hold her position as those drawn outside use up petrol in trying to get across.”

Ralph Beckett’s Waterway Run is in stall 10 and will be ridden by Frankie Dettori, while the Jeremy Noseda-trained The Gold Cheongsam is in stall 12.

St Nicholas Abbey will break from stall three when he defends his crown in the Breeders’ Cup Turf on Saturday. O’Brien’s five-year-old was a hugely impressive winner of the mile and a half Grade One 12 months ago and has run some fine races in Europe this term. Right next door in stall four out of 12 is stable companion Treasure Beach, who is a regular runner in America. Dettori partners former Brian Meehan inmate Cogito (six) for Doug O’Neill, while the former Stan Moore-trained Slim Shadey is an interesting runner for Simon Callaghan but stall 11 is clearly not ideal.

The Juvenile Turf kicks off Saturday’s card and Roger Charlton will undoubtedly be pleased to have drawn stall six of 15 for his ante-post favourite Dundonnell.
